General Rules for all Exams
- The student must provide one piece of valid, government issued photo
ID on arrival.
- These exams are “closed book”. Students are not allowed to reference any
materials during the exam. Except for IBAS Auto Bylaws and General Bylaws exams, where students are allowed to bring in a copy of the Insurance Bylaws for the exam. It must contains no written notes or highlights in it.
- A non-programmable calculator is allowed. Use of mobile phones or any
other devices are prohibited.
- A pen or pencil and one piece of scrap paper is allowed, but the scrap paper must be retrieved and destroyed by the proctor following the exam. The exceptions are IBAN and IBANS exams where scrap paper is not permitted.
CAIB 1, 2 and 3 Exams
Maximum exam duration: 3.5 hours
Exam type: Definition, Multiple Choice & Short Answer
Exam results: Emailed by association.
CAIB 4 Exam
Maximum exam duration: 3.5 hours
Exam type: Long Answer
Exam results: Emailed by association.
Fundamentals of Insurance Exam
Maximum exam duration varies by province, and is shown on the Instructions page
at the exam website.
Exam type: Multiple Choice
Exam results: Displayed on completion and sent by email.
Equivalency Exam (IBABC Only)
Maximum exam duration: 3.5 hours
Exam type: Multiple Choice

Auto Part 1 & 2 Exam (IBAS only)
Maximum exam duration: 2 hours
Exam type: Multiple Choice

Maximum exam duration: 1.5 hours

Exam Review and Submission: The candidate can complete and review questions in
any order prior they wish, prior to submitting the exam. Once the check box and
final submit button have been clicked on the final review page, the exam is
submitted and answers cannot be changed.

Brokers Association.
